The pilot is limited to 200 farms nationwide, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications open on Wednesday, 8 July 2026 at 12pm via the Fonterra Farm Source portal. Fonterra farmers will receive an email that day, inviting them to apply.
Do you qualify?
To receive the funding, your farm needs to meet all three of these criteria during the 2026/27 spring mating season:
- Genomic tests equivalent to at least 15% of your herd size
- Sexed inseminations of at least 10% of your spring-mating herd
- Mean Breeding Worth (BW) of cows inseminated with sexed semen at least +30 above your eligible herd's mean BW.
With only 200 spots available across all providers in New Zealand, applications will fill quickly. Be ready to apply as soon as the portal opens.
If you are already using CRV sexed semen or genomic testing, now is a good time to check where you stand. If you are using one but not the other, this season is a practical reason to bring both together.
Your CRV sales consultant can walk you through the criteria and help you plan your spring mating to give yourself the best chance of qualifying.
For full details, criteria and terms and conditions, visit the Fonterra Farm Source website.
Terms and conditions apply. Farmers must achieve any level of the Co-operative Difference in 2026/27 to be eligible. The qualifying sexed semen must be from a single breeding company.
