No need to select Bobbied for beef calves this season

myHERD

Based on farmer feedback, we've added a new calf fate option in myHERD — allowing you to record a calf as sold at calving without first assigning a NAIT tag.

Previously, some farmers were selecting "Bobbied" in these situations to avoid adding untagged calves to myHERD. This was leading to inaccurate data in Farm Dairy Records and other reports. The new option gives you a more accurate way to record what's actually happening on farm.

What's changed

When recording a calving, you'll now see a "Sold, no NAIT" option alongside the existing fate choices. It's also available when removing a temporary tag in the Tag Animal screen.

Selecting this option will remove the calf from your herd and record it as sold — no tag assignment required, and no historical record will be created for the calf in myHERD. A reminder will appear on screen confirming that any NAIT requirements for that animal remain your responsibility to manage.

Where it appears in reports

The new fate option is reflected in your calf report, cows calved report, calf fate report, and stock reconciliation report, where these calves will count as sales.
