Data Integration Breeds Better Decisions

CRV farmers are celebrating the recent myHERD integration with SenseHub Dairy as a step toward more streamlined and accurate data when it comes to supporting breeding decisions on farm.

The integration means data flows between the two platforms automatically – no double handling, no manual re-entry. For farmers already using SenseHub Dairy for herd monitoring, that means saving time and cutting the risk of errors.

David Wheadon, myHERD Product Manager at CRV, says the integration reflects the team's ongoing commitment to making myHERD work more efficiently for farmers in day-to-day management.

"This is another step forward. We know farmers are working with data from multiple sources, and our goal is to make sure myHERD sits at the centre of that – making it easier to bring information together rather than managing it in silos."

With heat and mating data now flowing directly between the myHERD and the SenseHub Dairy platforms, Atiamuri farmer Todd Anderson says decision-making during mating is more straightforward.

“Having it all in one place makes it easier to use the data properly. You can pull it up without jumping between platforms. It helps us see when cows are cycling, along with their genetics and history, and be more selective with what goes to what.”

Todd and Amy Adamson milk 530 cows in Atimuri, alongside Amy’s parents, Gary and Trish Driver. Todd carries out artificial insemination for the entire herd, so having reliable data in front of him at all times is critical.

“When you’re making breeding decisions, you want confidence that the information’s right and up to date. The integration makes that a whole lot easier.”

For Gary Driver, the integration reflects what farmers have been asking for – systems that talk to each other.

“At the end of the day, keep it simple,” Gary says. “We’re all in the same dairy industry. It makes sense for companies to work together so farmers aren’t stuck double entering or wondering which system to trust.”

More integrations are exactly what CRV has coming out of the pipeline for myHERD.

A priority for the team is getting more farmers connected using myHERD, and reducing the friction around data access.

A core group of farmers has also been involved in shaping upcoming features. The myHERD health overhaul is another new development, which supports multiple doses per treatment, and the process of entering and managing treatments is faster and more straightforward than before. The update also aligns with MPI’s drug list and recording standards, so records are consistent with what the industry expects.

Farmers can join a webinar on 19 May to hear more about the new features of myHERD and how it can connect with the tools they’re already using.
